« Wacom Receives SBTi Certification for Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emission Reduction Targets »
November 5, 2024 (Tokyo, Japan) – Wacom Co., Ltd. announced that it has been certified by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for its greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction targets in regard to SBT short-term targets.
Wacom recognizes climate change as an important issue in environmental management and in April 2023, it announced its support for the recommendations of the TCFD (Taskforce for Climate-related Financial Disclosures). To reduce GHG emissions, Wacom is conducting business activities in consideration of the challenges climate change poses to the business environment.
Wacom has been working on a global scale to reduce greenhouse gas reduction targets, with the aim of achieving them by 2030. Based on scientific evidence, these targets have been assessed as being consistent with greenhouse gas reduction targets (limiting the temperature increase from pre-industrial times to 1.5℃), required by the Paris Agreement, and we have now received SBT short-term target certification. GHG reduction targets for 2030 are described as follows: Reduce total GHG emissions in Scope 1 and 2 by 80% between 2021 and 2030.Reduce total GHG emissions from “purchased products and services” in Scope 3 by 25% between 2021 and 2030.
Wacom also plans to widen the coverage of greenhouse gas emission reduction target to include Scope 3 (emissions in the supply chain) and contribute to the decarbonization of society by collaborating with our suppliers. We will also continue to promote environmentally sound product development and business activities, striving to enhance our environmental information disclosure.
